Happy Holidays from Lewis Bamboo
December 4, 2008
| Today, we delivered to Greenscapers in Knoxville,
TN. This bamboo which is
Phyllostachys Bissetii, is going to be installed in large planters
at the University of Tennessee. These planters are to help divert
students from walking on the turf and just one more way of going green.
Glad we could be of help and we appreciate your order. |

Today Vernon and Austin visited us from Decatur, AL. Vernon owns Valley Nursery and Valley Landscaping. He has a large tree farm about 100 miles north of us and also does landscaping. |
| He visited to purchase some Phyllostachys Nigra 'Black' bamboo from us for a project he is working on. In this picture, they are looking at a grove of black bamboo that we have an elevated walkway through. |

The bright color of Phyllostachys Viridis 'Robert Young' captures the attention of most people. It is a striking bamboo, very easy on the eyes. |
| We got them loaded up and ready to go after the visit. It was nice to get to meet them and learn some about each other business. Thanks for the order. |

My uncle in Huntsville, Alabama had purchased large field specimens of several different species in February and October of 2006. He wanted privacy above his existing fence line and needed to alter the flight pattern of a problem bird population nearby. The bamboo has achieved this in short time. As you can see in the photos above, the bamboo averages about 18 feet in two short years by starting with large divisions. The 15 gallon size divisions have produced hundreds of new culms (canes) each Spring and soon will be putting up culms in the 30 to 50 foot height range.

![]() The bamboo has really performed well. Water had been one of the contributing factors, we have found that the more you water when the rhizomes or roots are growing, the faster your groves get established. |
| He also planted a small three gallon of Phyllostachys Nigra 'Black' within the fenced yard. As you can see, it has done very well, now producing 10 to 14 feet tall culms in two years. |

We are pleased that the bamboo has accomplished all his needs and they are
starting to enjoy the sheer beauty and tranquility of bamboo.

Today we had the pleasure of showing Doug from Riceland, Louisiana around our nursery. |
| Doug raises birds and was interested in growing his own bamboo so that he could use the canes to make toys and things for them to play with and use in their cages. |

He chose Phyllostachys nigra 'Henon' because of the size that he can obtain in his climate zone. These are some of the three gallon containers that he purchased. We really appreciate Doug's business. We hope that he and his birds enjoy the bamboo for years to come. |

| James, an
Atlanta landscaper that we supply frequently, was called in for a
screening project at this home in Atlanta.
James does a great job with landscaping projects and we are happy to get to work with him. |

This house has a lovely backyard sitting area that needed some privacy. |
| There was a planting bed installed in the rear of
the property to provide lush plants to view from the sitting area.
Bamboo was also installed along the back line to provide seclusion for their entertaining patio. Forty of the Phyllostachy Aurea was installed for an immediate screen. This species will work very well for the application and the climate zone. |

James, we really appreciate your repeat business and enjoy the opporinuty to get to work with you again.

We had the pleasure to make another delivery to the Northeast. We start this time outside of Pittsburgh, PA. This delivery was to Mr. Vallozzi. |
| Mr. Vallozzi has recently purchased this house and installed a beautiful outside entertaining area. There was one corner of the gardens that was lacking privacy. |

He chose Phyllostachys Bissetii to provide a screen in this area. He has a lovely home and beautiful gardens. I think the Bissetti will be a nice addition for beauty and privacy. |
| It was a pleasure to get to
meet him. Mr. Vallozzi who also owns an Italian restaurant. He insisted that
he provided us a good meal and it was great food. If you are ever in Greensburg, PA, I would recommend stopping and eat at Vallozzi, it was wonderful. |

Our next stop was at Scarsdale, New York. This was to Brenda and she wanted to screen out a large retaining wall behind her home. |
| Her house was actually built by an apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright. This was a beautiful house with very interesting angles. |

This is the retaining wall behind her house that the
Phyllostachys Aureosulcata
'Spectabilis' is going to screen out. The Spectabilis is yellow with
green stripes and will work great with her colorful yard. We really appreciate your order and it was nice to get to meet you. |
| The last stop was to Mr. Chu in Queens, New York. Mr. Chu already had some small bamboo planted in his front courtyard, but needed some larger divisions for privacy in the back of his home. |

This was another very neat home. These pictures on this trip show that there is plenty different forms of bamboo to go with any style home. |
| Mr. Chu decided on
Phyllostachys Nigra Henon
'Giant Gray' These were chosen because of their size and unique
appearance. Gray is one of my favorites and it always impresses people
that see it. Thanks for this order Mr. Chu and hope you enjoy all your new bamboo privacy screen. |

| We got to make another long road trip. This time we traveled to Philadelphia, PA. Soon there will be pictures of another New York delivery. This delivery was to a newly constructed residence in downtown. This is a picture of the cool building. I am talking with the owner and the landscape architect in this picture. |

This was a unique project and it was a joy to get to participate. The bamboo is being planting in an elevated planter in the courtyard. The planter is elevated ten feet, so these bamboos are being prepared to be craned into position. |
| These were custom dug sizes of
Phyllostachys
Aureosulcata. They needed larger multiple cane plants for the
planter. These plants will make an instant impact and should add to the
courtyard design. We were privileged to get selected as their bamboo supplier and we hope they enjoy their bamboo and courtyard. |

| Today Brady and Cindy from Memphis, TN made a trip down to visit. We are blessed to have a new interstate system running very close to our nursery. This new interstate makes the drive from Memphis, TN just under 3 hours away. |

Their neighbor just built an elevated deck. The new deck caused them to loose some privacy to their pool. They need a good screening bamboo in the 25' height range. |
| They chose Phyllostachys Bissetii for a lush green appearance in this height range. It was a pleasure to get to meet them and we are sure that this bamboo will give them the privacy they desire. Thanks |
