Jeremy and David called on Tuesday and wanted to know if we could help them. After contacting two bamboo nurseries within 50 miles of us and having an unpleasant experience with both, they gave us a call. Spring time is the busy season for most all nurseries. Many nurseries are understaffed making it difficult to help everyone with their needs. We have grown with the demand for bamboo and will always take time to help you anyway we can. If we cannot help you personally, we will be courteous and refer you to someone who can. Rachel was happy to answer all their questions and schedule them for an appointment quickly. |
They
have 200 linear feet to screen out in nearby Leeds, Alabama. After
touring all the groves and they decided to go with the 'Golden' bamboo which we have a great sale
on right now. They will be ordering over 40 of the large 15 gallon
sizes. We will delivering their bamboo free since they are around 50
miles away. We will have plenty of photos on this upcoming delivery.

To the left and below are photos of the beautiful little divisions of A.g. tecta we are delivering to Louisiana soon. A golf course has ordered 105 of these to go around one of the lakes on the course. |
This bamboo does very well in full sun or heavy shade. In shaded areas it will remain short usually under three feet in height. In full sun and good soil conditions it can grow from 6 to 8 feet in height. A new species of North American bamboo has been recently documented and looks very similar to typical tecta. It has been named Hill Cane or Arundinaria Appalachiana. We are awaiting more evidence on this newly named species before adding it to our collection. |

Sue
and her daughter visited today to purchase some ground cover bamboo.
Sue and her husband visited in 2005 and
purchased some Phyllostachy Nigra 'black'.
This year they had over 30 new canes from two plants. With such great
growth from bamboo, they decided to purchase some ground cover for some
of their flower beds around their pool. We really enjoyed their visit
and wish them continued luck with their bamboo. Thanks. |
Tony visited us yesterday from Georgia. He was quite familiar with bamboo having grown several species. He works with clients on oriental garden consulting and installations. Having visited Steve Ray's Bamboo Gardens and Georgia Bamboo, our local top competitors, he chose to purchase from us. Standing on one of our river docks, we look at some of the bamboo planted for erosion control. |

Below, Shibataea lancifolia was one of several ground cover bamboo he picked chose. With many mature groves of ground covers that most bamboo gardens do not have, we are able to offer established full containers of these rare bamboo. ![]() |
![]() Tony picked out 3 nice containers of Pleioblastus viridistriatus 'Dwarf Green Stripe' shown above. |
![]() Pleioblastus viridistriatus 'Chrysophyllus' was also added to his selections. |
![]() Always a favorite in the shrub bamboo is Indocalamus latifolius, Tony also picked out three of these. |
He toured the groves for several hours and went home with some beautiful low growing bamboo. Thanks again Tony, we look forward to your next visit. |

They had a beautiful yard but had lost 30 something trees to hurricane Rita and just wanted some shade and privacy back. The 'Moso' should make a beautiful grove and provide them with lots of cover. The P. nigra 'Black' will be a focal point added to his front yard. |
