Sasa vetchii

Sasa veitchii
'KUMA-ZASA BAMBOO'
Average mature size   . 5" x  5'      Hardy to  -4 F
Prefers Shaded Sites

The foliage of this one is its lure. From Japan this bamboo has large leaves that turn white along the margins in the fall while the rest of the leaf stays green. From south west Honsku, Japan this species is widely used in gardens now. Its winter foliage is breathe taking. Plant this one in the shade and it can handle a lot of moisture.

I recommend this species for USDA Climate Zones 6 and warmer.

        3 gallon - $50
Climate Zone 6 or warmer
Slightly Sunny or  Shaded

This species is considered a shrub bamboo. It grows to a height of 5 feet at maturity. As an under story plant, it does very well because it loves to be in a partly shaded area. A very difficult species to dig succussfully so the labor involved keeps the price high on
 this little bamboo.

In the spring, the new leaves are completely dark green. Then in the fall, they began to develop the small white border that gives this plant a unique and striking appearance.
Cold Hardiness is O degrees F.
