Bambusa multiplex 'Hedge'

Home Bamboo Information News Photos Specials Order

This bamboo is a subtropical clumping species. We recommend this clumping species for USDA Climate Zones 7 and warmer. In some areas of zones 7 it will have top kill during winter months. This means that the rhizomes grow in a circle around the mother plant making it easy to control. It's minimum temperature is 12 degrees F but it is the hardiest of the Bambusa.

Clumping bamboos are usually slow growing unless you are located in zones 8 or wamer.  New shoots appear in late summer or fall. Each node has a large number of branches down to the culm base, making a dense hedge.
