Semiarundinaria Fastuosa 'Viridis'

HomeBambooInformationNewsPhotosSpecialsOrder

This species is very erect and on mature canes has lush foliage only at the top. It is a multiple branch species containing several short limbs with rather large leaves. This species while very similar to S. Fastuosa it is different in that the canes remain green and do not change to brownish red in color.

Used mainly as a screening bamboo and reaches heights up to thirty-five feet. We have found this bamboo to be excellent and fast spreading to form a privacy screening. Below a beautiful grove of

Fastuosa is shown behind some visitors touring the groves.

The culm sheaths are quasi persistent. They often hang on in a
semidetached state for a number of weeks or months
after the new culms have completed their growth.

S. Fastuosa grows to a maximum height of 30 feet with a diameter

of 1 and 1/2 inches. This bamboo is cold hardy to -5 degrees F.

Above photos show some of the beautiful foliage and how erect this species grows.
